Celebrating the life of
Mary Elizabeth Harvard
December 15, 1914 - December 08, 2011
Mary Davis Kolb Harvard
Mary Davis Kolb Harvard, 96, went to Heaven the morning of December 8, 2011.
She was a resident of Habersham House.
Born in Savannah on December 15, 1914, Mrs. Harvard was one of five daughters born to Andrew Loren and Mamie Anderson Davis. She was a graduate of Savannah High School and South Georgia Teacher's College GSU.
Married to Lt. j.g. Otto F. Kolb, Jr., USN, she embarked on a life that included living in China and the Philippine Islands, returning to Savannah shortly before Pearl Harbor. Left a young war widow, Mrs. Harvard later married the late John A. Harvard in 1946.
Involved in both church and school activities, Mrs. Harvard served in leadership positions at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and Isle of Hope United Methodist Church where she was currently a member as well as PTA presidencies at Charles Ellis and Myers Jr. High Schools.
Always an avid competitor, Mrs. Harvard had been a masterful bridge player and faithful sports fan, especially of women's tennis. More than anything, she loved her family who enjoyed her constant encouragement and support. Her legacy as a Christian believer, a leader, as well as a servant, is enduring.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Darlene Weaver and the entire staff of Habersham House and to Dr. Susan Catalan for their compassionate and outstanding professional care.
Mrs. Harvard is survived by two daughters, Bette Harvard Kitt Don, Fairview, NC, and Sally Harvard Scott Danny, Savannah; six grandchildren, Amanda Kitt Hale Michael, Fletcher, NC, John Kitt, Savannah, Allyson Kitt Chimento Frank, Brandon, FL, Joseph Kitt, Fairview, NC, Mary Elizabeth Scott McKnight Shane, Cumming, GA, and Ashley Scott , Savannah, and eight great-grandchildren. Dear Sally, Jay Hall let us know about your mother's passing. It's odd the things one remembers, but my memory is spending at least one or two wonderful times at the beach house - perhaps with the MYF from Asbury? Mike and I send our best to you and your family. Pamela

Sally So sorry to hear about the death of your Mother. I know you will miss her but it sounds like she had a long and happy life. I didn't realise it, but your Mother and mine were in the same class at SHS. Plus, as you of course remember, we have known each other since kindergarten. Sorry we haven't seen each other in awhile. I hope you and Danny are doing well and just wanted you to know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Best regards, Robert
